How I work with this

Psychoanalytic therapy for depression is a space where you can talk about the most difficult things without judgment. We explore what lies beneath the depression: unexpressed anger, loss, lost meaning. Long-term work provides sustainable results — not just symptom relief, but a deep change in inner state.

Do you recognise yourself?

  • persistent low mood and sadness
  • absence of joy and interest
  • loss of energy and apathy
  • sleep and appetite disturbances
  • feelings of guilt and worthlessness

If you recognised 3+ points — it is a good reason to talk to a psychologist.

Approach & Methodology

Depression Is an Illness, Not a Weakness

Depression affects millions of people and responds well to psychotherapeutic treatment. It is important to distinguish clinical depression from temporary sadness. In analytical work, we explore losses, internal conflicts, and beliefs that maintain the depressive state.

  • Chronic fatigue and apathy
  • Loss of interest in life (anhedonia)
  • Difficulties with concentration and decision-making
  • Feelings of meaninglessness and hopelessness

Questions & Answers

What will we do in the sessions if I don't even have the energy to talk? +

We will start from where you are right now. Your silence, powerlessness, and emptiness are also very important material for therapy. I am not here to demand productivity or interesting stories from you. We will explore these difficult states together, learn to be in them without fear, and gradually look for the vitality blocked behind them.

Why don't I feel better from friends' advice to "just distract myself" or "pull myself together"? +

Because depression is not a consequence of laziness or a bad mood, but a complex structural state of the psyche. Advice to "think positively" only increases the feeling of guilt (superego pressure), as it requires an internal resource that you simply do not have access to right now.

Can depression be cured only by talking, without antidepressants? +

If depression is deeply rooted in your character and life history (characterological depression), psychotherapy is the primary and most effective method. However, in cases of severe exhaustion (severe clinical depressive episode), I work in tandem with a psychiatrist. Medications provide the biological resource so that you can think, feel, and work in therapy on the real causes of your condition.

How long will the treatment take? I no longer believe anything will help me. +

This very feeling of hopelessness is one of the key symptoms of depression; it speaks with the voice of the illness, not reality. The timeframe is always individual, but deep work that does not just mask symptoms, but changes the personality structure and minimizes the risk of relapses, usually requires from one to several years of regular sessions.
